Ptarmigan's Mackenzie of Graeagle WPD WWPDX 1994 - 2007 Mack was always the King in our house. He was our alpha male and ran mainly with Dancer. He was a wonderful working dog but did not care for showing at all. In fact, he didn't usually care for any other dogs. This trait made it very uncomfortable for him to compete in the show ring. However, he loved to work at anything we asked him to do. He was a wonderful weight-puller and gained quite a following of admirers in California. He had a very unique style where he got down low and crawled on his belly to break the load loose. His best pull was 2250 pounds and he didn't pull more that day because they ran out of weight! His favorite game was fetch. Yes, just like a retriever, he would chase a ball all day long and keep on bringing it back to you for another toss. Even better was if you would play this game in the lake so he could swim! He had a strong but gentle spirit - a puppy in a big dog's body. We miss him very much.
